The UK has one of the best road safety records in the world, but more can be done to prevent deaths and serious injuries.
By improving the skills and attitudes of drivers and riders, and providing better safety education, the government can further reduce the cost of emergency services, health and welfare services, insurance, traffic congestion, as well as the personal cost to people affected by road collisions.
Visit the Department of Transport to find out what the government are doing to make roads safer.
Transport for Bucks (TfB) is committed to making Buckinghamshire's roads safer for all users and to reduce casualties from road traffic collisions. Road safety will always be a priority but building on the success of the past will become increasingly difficult. To achieve further casualty reductions will require greater effort and a co-ordinated approach to engage with road users persuading them to behave more safely
TfB aim to reduce the number of casualties occurring on the road through a targeted approach including:
- Engineering works
- Education, training and publicity
- Speed limit reductions
- Community Speedwatch initiatives
