Date nomination receivedDate decision madeAsset type and address
09-03-1603-08-16The Swan (formerly The Old White Swan) 60 London End, Beaconsfield, HP9 2JD

Reasons for not listing :-

Whilst The Swan Public House is still in operation as a public house and there is no current reason to consider that this might change in the future, the Council is of the opinion that not enough evidence has been put forward to support the claims in the nomination that The Swan furthers the social wellbeing and social interests of the local community both currently and in the future and that the land and building is of community value. No first hand evidence has been submitted in support of the nomination to show that the activities listed in Appendix 2 to the nomination take place in such a way as to further the social wellbeing or social interests of the community, or at all.

Reasons for not listing :-

(a) Whilst The Whip and Collar Public House is still in operation as a public house and there is no current reason to consider that this might change in the future, the Council is of the opinion that not enough evidence has been put forward to support the claims in the nomination and subsequent correspondence that The Whip and Collar furthers the social wellbeing and social interests of the local community both currently and in the future and that the land and building is of community value.

(b) Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead CAMRA Branch, in additional supporting information, claim that they are speaking for the local community and that both CAMRA and the local community have no intention of bidding for The Whip and Collar if it is listed and an opportunity to bid for it arises. Their wish is to ensure that the owners, Unique Pub Properties Ltd have to go through the full planning permission process. No evidence has been provided to show on what basis they are speaking for the local community and, their reasons for nominating appears to go against the purpose of the Localism Act, that of providing the opportunity to bid and potentially operate the property as a continuing community facility.
