Business Continuity Planning is about ensuring firstly that an organisation has taken all reasonable steps to prevent or reduce the likelihood of an emergency disruption, and secondly, ensuring that the organisation is best placed to recover as quickly and as cost effectively as possible should one occur.
South Bucks District Council is taking steps to ensure that we prepare as much as we can for just such an emergency disruption. This is not something which will be carried out and completed, it is a continually evolving process and the Council will have to work very hard to keep things up to date and to make sure all staff are aware of the plans and what this means in the normal course of carrying out Council business. From simple tasks such as storing copies of key documents off-site to the more complex such as plans for re-locating the offices should they become in-accessible.
The Council has produced a Business Continuity Plan setting out how, who and where we prepare for any disruption. The plan is shown below as are other relevant documents.
The Council also has a duty to inform businesses in the District of their responsibilities in protecting their own businesses and preparing for unplanned disruptions. This is a new responsibility as laid out in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. There is a link below to further information.
