Street Collections (Charitable)

The Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916
Local Government Act 1972

The Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916 as amended by the Local Government Act 1972 authorises local authorities to, within their district, regulate collections with respect to the places where and the conditions under which persons may be permitted in any street or public place to collect money or sell articles for the benefit of charitable or other purposes.

All collections authorised by South Bucks District Council are issued with a permit. This permit should be on display and available for inspection by any member of the public, authorised Council Officer or Police upon request.

Sadly charity fraud does occur so please remember, If for any reason you are suspicious of a collector then please report it to the licensing team as a matter of urgency. Alternatively If you have a complaint regarding a collector please download the complaints form and return it to the Licensing Office to enable us to undertake an investigation.
