Licensing Objectives

The Licensing Act 2003 requires the council as licensing authority to carry out its duties in a manner that promotes the four licensing objectives which are:

  • The prevention of crime and disorder
  • Public safety
  • The prevention of public nuisance
  • The protection of children from harm

Applicants who submit applications for premises licences will be required to state in their operating schedules what steps they propose to take to promote the above four objectives.

Conditions that will be applied to a licence will seek to promote these objectives.

If you wish to make a relevant representation or call for a review of a licence or certificate you should indicate which of the objectives above it relates to.
