Licensing Policy

South Bucks District Council has now adopted it Licensing Policy following an informal consultation period November 2003 to January 2004 and a formal consultation period following release of the DCMS guidance 13 September 2004 to 15 October 2004.

The draft was submitted to all statutory consultees identified in and as required under the Licensing Act 2003 as well as all existing and potential licensees and operators in the District – totalling some 320 individuals, businesses and representative bodies. All comments received were reviewed by our Licensing Committee which met on 3 November 2004 before a final version of the Policy was approved for recommendation to our full Council on 7 December 2004 for adoption.

Applications will be accepted by the Licensing Authority from 7th February 2005, the First Appointed Day. All licences under the Licensing Act 2003 will take effect from early November 2005 when the Council will take full responsibility for issuing the following types of licence:

  1. Premises Licence - required for premises that sell or supply alcohol and/or provide any kind of regulated entertainment;
  2. Personal Licence - required by those who sell alcohol;
  3. Temporary Events Notice - required in relation to those premises where there are one off events for 499 people or less. For events of 500 people and above a premises licence is required;
  4. Club Premises Certificate - required for qualifying clubs to sell and supply alcohol.
