Door Supervisors
Security Industry Act 2001Under the Act the registration of door supervisors will pass to the
Security Industry Authority (SIA) on 11 April 2005. Although the Thames Valley Doorsafe scheme will still be in place until the end of the transitional period on 11 April 2005 persons who are registered by the SIA are able to work in the South Bucks District as soon as they receive their badge.
Both new and existing Thames Valley door supervisors
must apply to the SIA and after 11 April 2005 you will no longer be able to work in South Bucks unless you have received your SIA badge.
What are the benefits? The benefits of the scheme are that we should have fully trained, effective and efficient door supervisors, and secondly a reduction in crimes of violence throughout the District.
What is expected of licensed premises?Firstly it is important to remember that it is the door supervisor that is registered and not the premises, the legislation merely identifies the type of premises affected.
However if they employ door supervisors they must be registered, which will be a condition attached to their licence. If they employ persons that are not registered they could ultimately lose their licence.
Approved training establishments for door supervisorsThe Council now only accepts training approved for new
Security Industry Authority (SIA) scheme.
