Criminal Records Bureau
The CRB is an Executive Agency of the Home Office setup to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions. South Bucks District Council acts as an Umbrella Body completing applications for organisations and individuals who wish to work with children and vulnerable adults. From July 2010 an applicant can apply for ISA registration the same time as applying for a CRB check. (ISA registration only has to be applied for once).
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) acts as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for organisations, checking police records and, in relevant cases, information held by the VBS (Vetting and Barring Scheme). There are two levels of CRB check currently available; called Standard and Enhanced Disclosures.
Standard Disclosure
Standard Disclosures show current and spent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer. Information held by the VBS is not shown.
Enhanced Disclosure
This check is available to anyone involved in regularly caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults. It is also available in certain licensing purposes and judicial appointments. Enhanced Disclosures show information held on the PNC as well as the individual’s ISA status.
A copy of the Standard or Enhanced Disclosure will be sent by the CRB to the applicant as well as to the Umbrella Body.
The charges for CRB checks are
-
£26 Standard check (payable to CRB) + £15 admin charge
