Community Safety

The South Bucks Community Safety Partnership is a statutory partnership formed as a result of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, and includes senior officers from the following organisations:
  • South Bucks District Council 
  • Buckinghamshire County Council 
  • Thames Valley Police (South Bucks Local Policing Area 
  • Thames Valley Police Authority 
  • Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust 
  • Thames Valley Probation 
  • Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service 
  • Buckinghamshire Youth Offending Service 
  • Buckinghamshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team. 
  • Housing Associations including L&Q, Paradigm Housing Group, Homes. 
  • Voluntary Organisations including, CrimeStoppers and Victim Support.
The Partnership facilitates the co-ordination of local activities to reduce crime, disorder and the fear of crime by selecting the most appropriate course of action, ensuring agencies are not working in isolation and that resources are targeted.

In South Bucks District for the comparative periods: 1st April 2007 to 31st December 2007 and April 1st 2008 to 31st December 2008.
  • All reported crimes were down by 1.7% (5140 to 5055 offences) in the South Bucks Local Policing Area.
  • Serious Violent Crime reduced by 10% (20 to 18 offences) 
  • Burglary increased by 17.9% (408 to 481 offences) 
  • Robbery of business properties increased from 14 to 19 offences (35.7%) 
  • Theft from motor vehicle crime increased by 6.3% (699 to 743 offences) 
  • Theft of a vehicle reduced by 12.1% (199 to 175 offences) 
  • Robbery of personal property reduced by 42.4% (66 to 38 offences) 
  • 11 Acceptable Behaviour Contracts were set in place with local residents for an agreed period of time. 
  • From 1st April 2008 to 19th Jan 2009: Racially and Religiously aggravated crime decreased by 14.3% (42-36)
Community Safety is about action to tackle crime and disorder. It is also about fear of crime, as perception can sometimes be worse than reality. Community Safety involves us all. It affects everyone who lives, works or visits South Bucks District.
