Consultation - Farnham Park Sports Field

Earlier in the year, South Bucks District Council sought expressions of interest for the development of the southernmost part of the Farnham Park Sports Fields for sport and recreation.

After considering a number of bids, the council is proposing to proceed with ‘Baseball and Softball UK’ (BSUK) as its preferred partner for the development of the land.

The current proposals are to create four permanent baseball and softball pitches, backed by funding from Sport England. Softball can be played by people of all ages and teams are often mixed. The intention is to provide facilities for use by local adult and youth teams, as well as for players from across the wider Thames Valley area, incorporating the national softball tournaments which have been held at the site for several years. BSUK will ensure accessibility for those with disabilities and public access to the site will not be restricted.

Prior to applying for planning permission, BSUK will be consulting various interested parties for their views. BSUK, in conjunction with SBDC’s Leisure Department, will also be talking to residents, schools and community groups to explain the plans and how they see the facilities being used by local people.

We welcome your views on this proposal. To make your comments please email Andrew Crow at Andrew.Crow@southbucks.gov.uk.

This Consultation will close on 12th December 2011.
