Community and Volunteering Awards

Do you know someone or a group which deserves to be publicly thanked and recognised for their community achievements? South Bucks District Council's Community and Volunteering Awards are aimed at recognising the contribution of individuals and groups in promoting and supportingcommunity activities within the South Bucks District.

Please nominate someone to be in with a chance to win £100 for a South Bucks community or voluntary group of your choice’. Everyone who nominates someone for an award will automatically be entered into our prize draw to win £100!

Your nominee could win a years FREE membership courtesy of Nexus Community

Winner of the Sports Activator Award will receive a single membership valid for 12 months which will allow free use of the facilities in both South Bucks and Chiltern, including use of the gym, swimming pool, classes, health suite and use of the Climb in Amersham.

Categories of award:
  • Sports Activator - Adult and young person
    An award to thank those who give their time to working behind the scenes at our local sporting clubs, groups and schools. They may have made a contribution to improving community life in the District through sport, community development or health and well-being. Encouraging and inspiring others to be physically active through personal example, achievements and leadership.
  • Where There’s A Will There’s A Way-Adult and young person
    This is an award for an individual who has overcome a disadvantage in order to volunteer. This award recognises individuals who, despite seemingly insurmountable problems resulting from personal ill-health, family ill-health, family circumstances or personal tragedy, continue to lead active, selfless lives in our community, working for others and contributing to society in general.
  • Going the Extra Mile -Adult and young person
    An award for an individual or group who consistently makes an outstanding contribution to the local community or local charity as a volunteer and goes above and beyond their call of duty.
  • Finding the Funds -Adult
    This award celebrates individuals or groups who have made exceptional effort to raise funds for charitable causes or community organisations that benefit local residents. This award is open to any fundraising campaign, partnership or event that clearly demonstrates creativity, innovation and success in fundraising. This category reflects the professionalism, dedication and expertise of fundraising volunteers. The nomination can relate to any size, scale or type of campaign, partnership or event and is not just about the amount raised but also the approach taken.
  • Young Citizen of the year
    This category is for an individual who deserves to be recognised for helping others and who sets an example to other young people in the area. This may be through addressing community needs or issues or assisting others in need.
  • Chairman’s Special Award -Adult and young person
    All nominations received will automatically be entered into this category. This award is for an exceptional individual or group who have made an outstanding contribution, achievement or excelled in their voluntary work, making a real difference to the lives of individuals or the local community.

The Chairman's reception will take place on the 7th March 2012. All nominations must be submitted by 5.00 p.m. on the 1st February 2012.

The panel will consist of representatives from the community, South Bucks District Council and voluntary sector. All panel decisions are final.
