Chairman for South Bucks

Councillor ChhokarCouncillor Santokh Chhokar has been chosen as Chairman of South Bucks District Council.

Councillor Chhokar took up the position after being elected at the Annual Council Meeting on 23 April 2013, after serving as Vice Chairman to former Chairman, Councillor Alan Walters for the last two years.

The role of Chairman is twofold. Firstly, as First Citizen of the District, Councillor Chhokar will represent the Council at various events, functions and official engagements. Secondly, as Chairman, Councillor Chhokar will chair the Council meetings and conduct the Council’s deliberations, debates and decision-making.

 
Councillor Chhokar and his wife Ranjit have lived in Gerrards Cross for the past 13 years with their three children. He has served as a District Councillor since 2007 and has also served on Gerrards Cross Parish Council between 2005-2007.

In 2011 he was elected as Vice Chairman of South Bucks District Council. During his time as a Councillor for South Bucks Councillor Chhokar has been a member of the Standards Committee, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Licensing Committee. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee and sits on the Council’s Resources Policy Advisory Group.

Councillor Chhokar is also a member of the South Bucks Partnership.

On his appointment as Chairman, Councillor Chhokar said, “It is an honour to be elected as Chairman. I am keen to promote South Bucks District Council and the work of its Councillors in the District. During my time in office I shall strive to promote South Bucks as a wonderful place to live, work and play. I am also looking forward to meeting many of the amazing people, groups and voluntary organisations who give our District such richness, life and vibrancy.”

Councillor HazellCouncillor Miss Lin Hazell was chosen to be Vice Chairman. Councillor Hazell is a District Councillor for Burnham Beeches and is a member of the Planning Committee, the Environment and Community Policy Advisory Groups and also the South Bucks Partnership.
