World heritage site
World Heritage Sites have outstanding universal cultural or natural value, and are proposed by member governments and inscribed on the list by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation). There are twenty-five World Heritage Sites in the UK.
Maidenhead Railway Bridge, a GII* listed building by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, is on the UK tentative list for designation as a World Heritage Site as part of the Great Western Railway.
