Other Development Plan Documents

Apart from the Core Strategy Development Plan Document which is the focus of production in the first few years of the new planning system, the Council will also produce other Development Plan Documents following the production of the Core Strategy. As stated in the Local Development Scheme, the Council will produce:

  • Land Allocations Development Plan Document
It will identify and allocate land to meet future development requirements in the District. This will focus largely on how the Council will meet its housing requirements, including the extent to which it is necessarily to rely on windfall sites. It will also address other uses where there is a specific identified need that would be best dealt with through the identificiation of specific sites.

  • Generic Development Control Development Plan Document
It will provide a clear set of generic development control policies relating to all development throughout the district.

All Development Plan Document must be submitted to the Secretary of State for an independent examination. Local authorities must ensure that the documents are in general conformity with the Regional Spatial Strategy (The South East Plan).
