Oil & Oil Filters
According to the environment Agency, oil accounts for 25% of all pollution incidents.
DO NOT pour oil into the drains as most drains link to watercourses, which become polluted.

Garden Chemicals
Unused herbicides, pesticides and other garden chemicals must not be put into ordinary waste or into drains. Water seeps through landfills and drains flow untreated into rivers etc; toxic waste ends up in the water table. It is best to buy only what you need and to use what you buy. If you find, nevertheless, that you have unwanted garden chemicals take them to your local council site and ask to dispose of them in the toxic waste container.

Paint & Coatings
It is best to buy only what you need and to use what you buy. However tins of paint containing residue paint should not be put out for collection during your normal refuse collection as these will be crushed during the process and your paint will appear along the carriageway as the vehicle progresses along it round.
Paint tins should be taken to your local Amenity Site for disposal.
Medicines
Medicines are dangerous if not taken as prescribed, especially if they are accessible to youngsters. They deteriorate with age, so surplus medicines should be disposed of safely and not thrown away with the normal refuse.
We suggest trying your local pharmacy who may accept medicines for safe disposal and they may also accept empty medicine containers
Panes of Glass
Panes of glass should NOT be put in the usual glass recycling containers provided by the council as sheet glass is too dangerous and should be disposed of properly.

Sewage
Sewage can present hazards, particularly in locations where it is not possible to connect into the main drainage.
Residents will need to make their own arrangements for emptyings.
Vehicles
Should you have a vehicle you no longer require SBDC will arrange collection for a small fee (currently £66) and ensure that it is disposed of in the correct manner.
