Historic Environment & Building Conservation
South Bucks District has a rich architectural heritage with around 750 Listed Buildings, 21 Conservation Areas as well as 12 Registered Parks and Gardens and 11 Scheduled Ancient Monuments. These historic buildings, areas and landscapes provide valuable evidence of our social and economic history and contribute to the special character of the district.
The Conservation & Design Officers at South Bucks are responsible for a wide range of duties regarding the maintenance of these historic assets including processing Listed Building Consent applications, producing Conservation Area appraisals and dealing with pre-application enquiries.
They provide specialist guidance and information on the repair of historic buildings, work to identify and secure the restoration of Buildings at Risk and seek to raise the profile of the historic environment.
South Bucks is currently reviewing its Conservation Areas. If you require more information on this review programme, including access to an online questionnaire in order to take part in one of the public consultations, please see our
"Conservation Areas" page and follow the instructions.
