Core Strategy -Submission

The South Bucks Core Strategy is the key document in a suite of documents known collectively as the ‘Local Development Framework’. It sets out the broad policy framework for managing the scale, form and broad location of future development in the District in the period to 2026.
Following a recent consultation on the Proposed Submission Core Strategy (which ended on 12th May 2010), the Council submitted its Core Strategy to the Secretary of State on 21st July 2010.
In compliance with Regulation 30 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008, the following documents and all
Evidence Base studies and supporting documents were submitted to the Secretary of State.

The District Council has completed a Self-Assessment toolkit for both Legal Compliance and Soundness, and has submitted this to the Planning Inspectorate.

In accordance with Regulation 29, the Council has sought and received a Statement of Regional Conformity from the South East England Partnership Board.

What happens next?
An independent Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will now undertake an Examination on the Core Strategy to determine whether the document is legally compliant and sound. The Inspector will consider all the representations made following the publication of the Proposed Submission document and decide who should be invited to give evidence at the public hearing sessions. It will be for the Inspector to set the date for the hearings.
The anticipated timetable for progressing the Core Strategy through to adoption is as follows:

Programme Officer
A Programme Officer, Mrs Karen Park, has been appointed to provide administrative support for the Core Strategy Examination. She will be the first point of contact for any person who has made representations at the Pre-Submission Publication stage, and will act as a liaison point between the Council, Inspector and Examination participants.
