Core Strategy Examination

The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 21st July 2010. The Secretary of State appointed Inspector Stephanie Veronica Frances Chivers BA DipTP MRTPI from the Planning Inspectorate to conduct the Examination in November 2010, where she assessed the document for soundness and legal compliance.

Inspector's Report
The Inspector has produced a report with her recommendations, which are binding on the Council. The Inspector has recommended that the Core Strategy is sound and should be adopted, subject to a small number of changes. Additional Consultation on Proposed Changes (15 October to 12 November 2010)
Following the Pre-hearing meeting, the Council, together with the Inspector, decided to carry out 4 weeks’ consultation on the Schedule of Proposed Changes and the Schedule of Further Proposed Changes. Pre-hearing meeting
The Pre-Hearing Meeting (PHM) was held on 5 October 2010 at the Council Offices. The purpose of the PHM was to provide an opportunity for procedural and administrative matters relating to the Examination to be explained and discussed.

The Council presented three new documents to the Inspector at or shortly after the PHM. These documents were produced after the Submission of the Core Strategy in July 2010 and can be downloaded below.

 

Examination
The Examination Hearings were held between 10 and 18 November 2010, at the Council Offices.

A Schedule of Changes Arising During the Examination Process (CD1/37) (downloadable below) is a ‘living’ document to record proposed changes which arise during the examination process - namely those arising through the process of drafting the Council’s written statements (including very minor consistency and clarification changes which have come to the Council’s attention when preparing the statements), and proposed changes agreed in the hearing sessions.
