Supplementary Planning Documents are part of the Local Development Framework and are developed to further define and implement the policies and strategies contained within the Development Plan Documents when needed. These documents are be subject to public consultation under The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.
Supplementary Planning Documents have a greater weight than Supplementary Planning Guidance prepared under the old planning system, because they have complied with the requirements for community involvement and sustainability appraisal.
