Recycle your Christmas Tree!
The New Year is usually time to recover after plenty of festive indulgence and there are many ways we can also help our bins recover from Christmas excess by reducing, reusing or recycling our waste. So why not purge yourself of your extra waste by following the tips below and make a resolution for a greener 2011;
Tree-cycle
- Used Christmas trees can be taken to the Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens
on Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th January 10am - 4pm or to the Household
Waste Recycling Centres (Langley, Burnham, Beaconsfield) where they
will be composted.
Christmas trees can also be composted at home in your home compost bin or residents on the green waste trial can put out Christmas trees with their green bin – make sure you reduce the tree into compost-friendly sized portions first that can fit into your bin!
Residents can also put Christmas trees out with refuse for collections. Trees will need to be able to be picked up easily by one man. If trees are larger than 6ft tall and/or too heavy or bulky for one man to easily lift alone, they may not be collected and will need to be cut into smaller, more manageable sections.
WEEE loved Christmas
– If you were lucky enough to receive a new TV or CD player this Christmas, don’t forget to recycle any waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), including any unwanted Christmas lights or kitchen appliances, at your nearest Household Waste and Recycling Centre (Langley, Burnham, Beaconsfield).
A lot of bottle
- Other materials such as plastic bottles, foil and textiles can be recycled at many of our recycling bring sites in the district, which are usually at supermarkets and other easily accessible locations. Visit the
Refuse and Recycling page
to find your nearest site
Love Food Hate Waste
- The average British family wastes around £50 a month on buying food that ends up uneaten and in the bin. Make sure that money doesn’t go to waste this year by visiting
