My landlord has told me to leave - what can I do?
If your landlord wants you to leave he needs to provide you with proper notice to quit and follow a procedure which depends on the type of tenancy agreement you have. You can get Housing Advice by the Housing Options team based at the Council Offices in Capswood.
The law protects people living in residential property against harassment and illegal eviction. It does this in two ways:
by making harassment and illegal eviction a criminal offence, and by enabling someone who is harassed or illegally evicted to claim damages through the civil court.
If your landlord is trying to evict you without having obtained a Court Order contact the Housing Services Team on 01895 837200 for advice.
However, where there is actual physical assault, you should call the police immediately.
