Empty Homes

As you are probably aware there is a very high demand for housing throughout South Bucks District. The Council is very keen to encourage the owners of long-term empty properties to bring them back into use. This will provide much needed housing in the district. It can also generate a significant income for the owner, either from rent or from the proceeds of a sale. The Council may be able to help you to access advice or assistance to return your property to use.

In addition, the Council  may be able help in a number of ways, subject to funds being available.
These include:

  • providing grant funding to help you meet the cost of major repairs to the property,
  • arranging for you to let the property through the Council's Private Rent Scheme with a rent deposit guarantee or possibly via a housing association, who can undertake any necessary repairs, manage the property for you and provide you with a regular rental income, or
  • possibly arranging for you to sell the property to a housing association.
