Discretionary Disabled Persons Grant

Eligible works include:

work additional to that of mandatory disabled facilities grant;
small scale adaptations;
assistance for a disabled person to move to a more suitable property;

Who can apply?
Owner-occupiers; landlords including registered social landlords and local authority tenants.

How much is the grant?
Usually, the maximum grant is £15,000. Grants above that amount may be approved at the discretion of the Council.

Are there any other conditions?

The applicant will need to certify that the disabled person intends to live in the property for five years after the grant is paid.
Any assistance provided may be repayable if the disabled person leaves the property within 5 years of the work being completed.
