A free advice service for everyone in South Bucks
Residents in the district can obtain free and impartial advice on how to save energy at home and information on the availability of energy efficiency grants/discounts by phoning the Beds & Herts Energy Efficiency Advice Centre.
357 residents called during 2006 and will have saved money as a result. They should also have warmer, more comfortable homes as a result of the recommendations from the energy advice service.
How does the Energy Advice Service work?
Making a few simple improvements to your home can save you up to £300 on your annual bills*. It can also help reduce carbon dioxide emissions - a major cause of global warming.
Loft and cavity wall insulation are two of the most cost effective ways to prevent heat loss and reduce the amount of fuel needed to keep your home warm.
The advice centre runs a service called 'Cocoon'. By contacting Cocoon through the free phone number, you will receive advice and guidance on the availability of grants and discounts to insulate your home.
Energy Advisors can also provide answers to any question related to energy use in your home, ranging from problems with condensation or high bills to difficulties finding boiler installers and advice on domestic renewable energy options.
All callers are offered a Home Energy Check questionnaire. Once completed and returned, this results in a free personalised report outlining energy saving measures specifically designed for your home.
The service is funded by Energy Saving Trust and supported by the council.
