Home Improvement Agency

South Bucks District Council runs  a Home Improvement Agency in partnership with Wycombe and Chiltern District Councils, to enable older and disabled home owners receive help and support when they need repairs or adaptations to their homes. The service is run by Anchor Staying Put, a not-for–profit organisation run by Anchor Trust.

How does the service work?
Anchor Staying Put can visit you at home to decide what works need to be done, help to obtain quotations from reliable contractors and oversee the works when they are carried out.  They can also help you to find information about how to pay for the works and help you to apply for a grant, if you are eligible.

Anchor Staying Put can also give advice on welfare benefits and help you to consider all of the housing options open to you, for example, if moving house is a better solution than having major adaptations works carried out.

How much does the service cost?
The Anchor Staying Put advisory service is free.
If you decide to carry out work with the help of Anchor, they will charge a fee, usually 10% of the cost of the work.  This can be included in any grants for which you may be eligible.
