P-ARTlympics

Art-Work-by-Rachel-Gadsden
South Bucks District Council has been working with the Bucks Arts Partnership on an exciting pilot project, P-ARTlympics, in the run up to the Olympics and the Paralympics.

The focus of the pilot project was to bring together disabled and non-disabled young people in four schools across Bucks with disabled artists and athletes. This was a starting point to explore different bodies, how they move and what makes them move in a particular way; linking mainstream and disability art forms and Paralympian sport.  This work with the young people has resulted in imagery and film, capturing the spirit of this initial exploration. In South Bucks, young people from the Beaconsfield School worked with Paralympian Andy Blake, disabled visual artist Rachel Gadsden, currently an artist in residence at Hampton Court Palace, disabled dancer Sarah Pickshall, a circus performer, and a film maker to create a legacy of their work in the lead up to the London 2012 Games.
