Disability Clubs
Burnham Disability Club
The multi sports club at Burnham Upper School runs on Wednesday nights from 4.30pm - 6.00pm and costs just £2.00 per session. The club features a wide variety of ball games for children aged between 11 - 17 years, including football, hockey and basketball all adapted to a wide variety of disabilities including young people who are wheelchair users.
Attracting 12 - 15 young people each week the Burnham Disability Club which is specifically targeted at young people with either learning or physical disabilities is a joint initiative between South Bucks, Chiltern District Council and Bucks County Sports Partnership; and the club continues to be a great success story.
Holtspur Junior Disability Club
A junior version of the Burnham Club was launched on the 23rd January 2009. Borrowing from the ethos of the Burnham club this Multi-Skills venture is aimed at young people across the entire spectrum of physical and learning disabilities.
The club, situated at the Beacon Centre in Holtspur, near Beaconsfield, provides 7-11 year olds with a variety of skills activities such as throwing, catching and balance to complement adapted sports such as Boccia, Kurling, Basketball and Table Cricket. The club's links with the Burnham venture, which covers the 12 - 17 year age group, creates a clear pathway for young people of ages 7 through to 17 in South Bucks to continue to improve and realise their sporting potential.
The club runs from 5-6pm, costing £2 per session.
