2012 Games Community Initiatives Grant
South Bucks District Council is proud to be a host district for the London 2012 Games, to help residents become involved in the games South Bucks District Council are offering two grant schemes in the lead up to the games.
- The first is The 2012 Games Community Initiatives - Community groups, clubs Town and Parish councils can apply for funding for projects/events open to the wider public, which will be held within South Bucks and which relate to the 2012 Games. Applications need to demonstrate a clear link to the Olympic and Paralympic Games with inspired opportunities and/ or offer a lasting legacy for the residents of South Bucks.
- The second scheme available is The Chairman’s Grant to Support Local Talented Young Sportsmen and Women - this special grant has been launched to support local athletes in their pursuit to be the best. Whether it is support with purchasing specialist equipment, specialist training, or help towards getting to that all important competition, this grant is there to support you. The grant is available to applicants who have, through recommendation, the potential to represent Great Britain or England in their chosen sport. All applicants must reside or training at a club within the district and be under 21 years of age.
Community Games Event Funding
This is your chance to bring a little bit of London 2012 to your local community. A new initiative in Bucks is offering funding to support local groups, families, individuals and sports clubs to organise a ‘Community Games’ event to celebrate and legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Administered by Bucks Sport and supported by South Bucks District Council the ‘Community Games Offer’ offers £250 plus extensive promotional materials towards community events with a sporting or cultural element.
The offer intends to give thousands of people across the county their own Olympic and Paralympic moment. To help community groups and organisations, Bucks Sport has outlined the support that is available to existing and new event organisers in Buckinghamshire during 2012.
All you need to do to access this great offer is to register your event at
www.communitygames.org.uk and Bucks Sport will be in touch to organise your support package. The budget for the community games is limited so apply early to avoid disappointment.
