Local developments in Sport in South Bucks.

Congratulations to Chalfont Community College and Beaconsfield High School for their success in the recent South Bucks Indoor Rowing Schools Championships; one of many events that South Bucks District Councils has organised in the lead up to the London 2012 Games.

Last week David Reeve, Tennis Development Officer for Buckinghamshire, visited the Sports Development Team to discuss new initiatives in the world of Tennis and one that particularly ‘court’ our eye was ‘All play tennis’.
The scheme is designed to help you find your local courts or somebody to play with; players can search for people in their area who are looking for a game and even contact them to get started. It’s free to register –visit
www.lta.org.uk.
The Sport Relief Mile event will be taking place on Sunday 25th March at Evreham Sports Centre, Iver in association with Nexus Community and South Bucks District Council.
You will have the opportunity to run the following distances one, three or six miles. Many runners jazz up the run by wearing fancy dress or completing the ‘one miler’ in a three legged fashion with a friend!
If running is not for you and you would like to support the charity in your own way; we are looking for volunteers to help out on the day and generally spur the participants on!
If you are interested in taking part or would like more information please visit the
Sports Relief website, which is now is live and you can register your place right now. Sport Relief is currently allowing participants to register for half price for a limited time only - £3 for adults, £1.50 for a child and £7.50 for a family.
We are also looking for volunteers to help out on the day to ensure the mile ‘runs’ smoothly.
Please contact the Sport Development Team if you are interested in volunteering on the day. Please email Culturalandyouth@southbucks.gov.uk
