Children Invited To Come Out And Play

Children in Burnham have the chance to celebrate with the Play Rangers on Saturday 3rd October as the official launch of the new play area at the Stomping Ground, Burnham, takes place.

The play area, which was installed by South Bucks District Council as part of the Let's Play! Programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund, provides new pieces of equipment for older children and allows them to practice their climbing skills.

The old site has been completely transformed with new equipment in the playground including cradle swing, Speed Gyro (roundabout), Astrolab (slide/ climbing frame), Pod swing for disabled use as well as able bodied, Gyrospiral (hanging and balance), Climbing frame, Fiery the dragon Springer, Falling Star Springer and a bench. There are also new trees, fencing, gates and paths.

The Play Rangers, who are also part of the Let's Play! Programme, will be at the Stomping Ground between 2pm and 3.30pm to get children playing, both on the new equipment and off, as they provide a FREE outreach play session for ages 5 to 12. The Play Rangers are a familiar sight around South Bucks and help to get children outside and playing.

South Bucks District Councillor Shorne Tilbey, Portfolio Holder for Community, says, 'the funding from the Big Lottery Fund has really increased the opportunities for young people's play throughout South Bucks. We are excited to be able to officially open the new play area, which will inspire local children to get out into their local parks and play areas and have fun being active.'

The play area will be officially opened by Cllr Alan Walters, Vice-Chairman of South Bucks District Council, at 2pm, and Play Rangers will be at the Stomping Ground from 2.00pm until 3.30pm.
