New Safer Goalposts Are a Real Winner

Footballers in South Bucks have scored with improved equipment being provided for them at a popular local facility

South Bucks District Council has been awarded a grant of £2,200 towards the cost of six sets of new safer goalposts at Farnham Park Playing Fields.

The money has come from the Football Foundation following a successful bid for cash by the Council who manage the playing fields on behalf of the Farnham Park Sports Field Trust.

The Football Foundation's Goalpost Safety Scheme, in partnership with the Football Association (FA), is designed to improve and replace non-compliant and unsafe goalposts throughout the country, reducing the number of serious injuries that occur as a result of unsafe posts and crossbars.

Councillor Shorne Tilbey, South Bucks District Council Portfolio Holder for Community, says 'The new goalposts are a great improvement for Farnham Park Playing Fields and we hope the players will enjoy using the new equipment. South Bucks District Council is pleased to be able to provide quality facilities for our community and we thank the Football Foundation for helping us to purchase the new goals.'

Farnham Park Playing Fields has space available for bookings on Saturdays throughout the upcoming football season. Contact Sports Development Officer on 01895 837348 if you would like further information.
