Young Volunteer Scoops Two Awards in One Week

Last week, Beaconsfield resident Anna Collin received not just one, but two awards for her services to the local community.

Wednesday 25th saw the 16 year old named Young Person's Sports Activator at the Chairman’s Community and Volunteering Awards Ceremony held at South Bucks District Council. On Friday 27th Anna was awarded the Young Leader of the Year award at the Bucks Sport Awards evening held at Horwood House.

Being crowned winner of these two awards highlights Anna’s great contribution to improving community life through sport. The Beaconsfield High School pupil became a Young Ambassador last October, and has now gone on to register over 500 hours of volunteering, achieving Gold Awards in both community and school volunteering. Anna works hard to juggle the pressures of her school work with her voluntary role which has included being a committed member of the Bourne End Junior Sport Club, a volunteer at Holtspur Junior Disability Sports Club and helping with the running of galas at the Wycombe Swimming Club. It is truly amazing that Anna has completed all of this and so much more and is still only 16 years of age.

Commenting on Anna’s contribution to her local area Councillor Shorne Tilbey, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Community said, ‘Anna is a credit to her local community and a fine example to all young people’.
