Fun in the Sun
Young People in South Bucks have lots to look forward to this summer with FREE Chillin’ in the Park events taking place at 10 parks across the district thanks to funding from Positive Activities for Young People Initiative (PAYP) and Asda Sporting Chance. The event will visit each park for two days at a time, providing free sports and arts activities for children and young people up to 16 years of age (under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult).
Organised by South Bucks District Council’s Sports Development Team, the holiday programme is sure to keep boredom at bay with the wide range of sports and arts activities on offer. South Bucks District Councillor Shorne Tilbey, Portfolio Holder for Community says, “We are pleased to be able to offer free events such as Chillin’ in the Park to keep children entertained and active over the long summer holiday period. I hope that many of our younger residents will come along and take advantage of the fun activities on offer”.
The event returns after a successful programme last summer, with over 600 youngsters attending over the 20 days. Staff will provide a variety of sports activities from 10am-3pm, including football, rounders, kwik cricket, tennis and tag rugby. An artist will also be present from 11am to 2pm each day, with arts, crafts and dance activities for the children to try (activities vary dependent upon artist present on the day).
