You could win £100 by Nominating Someone for a Community Award
South Bucks District Council is calling on residents to nominate special people for the annual Chairman’s Community and Volunteering Awards.
The awards are in their 6th year and are to recognise the outstanding contributions made to local communities by individuals and groups voluntarily devoting their time for the benefit of others.
If you know someone whose dedication to helping others has made a real difference to your community, this is an opportunity to thank them and show that their work has been appreciated. Everyone who makes a nomination will be put into a prize draw and could win £100 for their chosen South Bucks community group.
Nominations will be considered by a panel of representatives. All nominees will be invited to attend the Chairman’s Community Reception on the 10th November where the winners will be announced.
This year, Nexus Community has kindly donated two prizes for the winners of the Adult and Young Persons Sports Activator Award – each winner will receive a single membership valid for 12 months which will allow free use of the facilities in both South Bucks and Chiltern, including use of the gym, swimming pool, classes, health suite and use of the Climb in Amersham. Each membership would normally cost up to £450.
Last year the Community Awards received some fantastic nominations for some very deserving individuals and groups and this year the District Council wants to see more nominations.
The awards are free to enter and are open to people who volunteer in the district and have not previously been a category winner. To receive an award candidates must be nominated via an application that highlights their commitment to the community. Nominees should have worked in a voluntary capacity, or carried out work which is considered over and above their normal paid employment duties.
Chairman of South Bucks District Council, Councillor Alan Walters says, ‘We know South Bucks is full of unsung heroes who work hard to make a real difference in their communities, and this is a real opportunity for their efforts to be recognised. If there is a group or individual who you believe makes a significant difference to their community and deserves recognition, get out there and nominate them.’
