Crime Prevention Activity Sees Significant Drop in Gerrards Cross Burglary Victims
Crime figures show that in the months of May and June this year, incidents of domestic burglary in Gerrards Cross have dramatically reduced following several crime prevention and enforcement activities operations.
In May and June this year, there were 3 burglaries in Gerrards Cross compared to the same period last year (2008/2009) when there were 21 domestic burglaries. Meaning, there are 18 fewer burglary victims. The figures for May and June are also the lowest they have been since August 2008 for the Gerrards Cross area.
Several crime prevention and enforcement operations have been carried out by South Bucks District Council, Thames Valley Police and Gerrards Cross Neighbourhood Action Group since January. Examples include, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Operations, SelectaDNA property marking in hotspot areas, leaflet and letter drops by community officers to vulnerable properties, Neighbourhood Watch reinvigoration and an awareness banner in the High Street.
Rob Mellor, Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Gerrards Cross says, “By working with our partners to tackle this issue, we have seen a positive reduction in incidents of burglary. We would encourage members of the community to make sure they secure their property, contact us if they need crime prevention advice and report suspicious activity via the non emergency number”
