Are You Ready For 2012?

If you represent a club, community group, residents committee, Parish or Town Council in South Bucks and want to know how you can bring the excitement of the 2012 Games to your doorstep then this free event is for you.

South Bucks District Council will be holding an evening to help let local groups know what support is available to them and to help pass on some inspirational ideas on how to dress towns and villages, club huts or businesses, in preparation for the Olympics.

Also guest speaker Clive Milkins, Coach to Paralympic Gold Medallist Sophie Christiensen at the South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Centre in Fulmer, will be speaking about his experiences of helping Sophie to success in Beijing and will explain how different it is to defend the title on home soil next year.

The Council will be launching its new community fund during the evening which has been set up specifically to help support local people to put on their own Olympics inspired community activities.

South Bucks District Councillor Anita Cranmer, Portfolio Holder for Community says, “The Olympics and Paralympics are coming and we all have an opportunity to be a part of it and celebrate the Games in our own communities. The Games are a great way of connecting people and building community spirit. The District Council is there to offer guidance and support where it can so book a place and come along to find out more.”

South Bucks District Council is a host authority for the Games. But it doesn’t want to just help bring the Olympics to the district, it wants to help bring it right to your doorstep…. so come along and find out how.

The evening will be held at South Bucks District Council Offices in Denham on 21st September starting at 6pm. The event is FREE to attend, however booking is required.
