New Chairman's Grant To Support Talented Young Sportsmen and Women 

South Bucks District Council is proud to be a host authority for the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and recognises the importance that sport offers to the health and well being of its residents. In light of this belief Councillor Alan Walters, Chairman of South Bucks District Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new special Chairman’s grant to support local talented young sportsmen and women in their pursuit to be the best.

Chairman Councillor Walters says "South Bucks has a great number of talented young sportsmen and women. Through this grant I want to help them to achieve their sporting goals. It takes more than just time and dedication to reach the top but also money. So whether it is support with purchasing specialist equipment, specialist training, or help towards getting to that all important competition, this grant is there to support you. I look forward to helping to create some of the countries top sporting hero's of the future."

Grants of up to £500 are available to applicants who have, through recommendation, the potential to represent Great Britain or England in their chosen sport. All applicants must reside or train at a club within the South Bucks District and be under 21 years of age.

This grant not only provides financial support to young sportsmen and women, it also provides recognition. It acknowledges that they have a special ability and with the correct level of support, they could go on and achieve their full potential.

Applications are now being welcomed from the Olympians of the future.
