Election - Thursday 5th May 2011: Don't Lose Your Right to Vote
In just over a month’s time, electors within South Bucks District will have the opportunity to have their say in the local government elections being held on Thursday, 5 May 2011.
All 40 seats on South Bucks District Council are up for election on this date. The current composition of the Council is 35 Conservatives, 2 Lib Dems and 2 Independents with one vacancy.
Elections are also due to be held in the 26 Town and Parish Wards within the South Bucks District on 5 May. A Referendum on the voting system used to elect MPs to the House of Commons will also be held on the same day
Last week over 50,000 poll cards were sent out and if you’re already registered, then you will receive your polling card between now and April 4, 2011.
If you are not registered to vote, then there is still time to apply. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, 14 April.You can check if you are registered by calling the Election Helpline on 01895 837200 or by visiting the Council Offices in Denham and looking at the electoral register.
If you have moved recentlyIf you have recently moved home, we can send you the necessary form for you to register at your new address. Amendments can be made to the register if you change your name, become eligible to vote for the first time or if our existing records are incorrect.
Absent vote applicationsIf you are on the electoral register you may wish to apply to vote by post (postal vote) or to arrange for someone else to vote on your behalf (proxy vote). Application forms for both methods can be obtained by:
- contacting the elections helpline;
- visiting the Council’s website www.southbucks.gov.uk and clicking on ‘Elections’; or
- by
emailing elections@southbucks.gov.uk.
You need to send your completed application forms back to us by:
- Thursday 14 April at 5pm for postal vote.
- Thursday 21 April at 5pm for proxy vote.

to put your name forward. Nomination papers can be obtained at the Council Offices above.
The deadline for returning the nomination papers to the Returning Officer is noon on Monday 4 April.
