Mobile Phone Parking System Is Just The Ticket
Motorists parking in South Bucks District Council owned car parks, now have a quicker and more convenient way to pay for parking - by mobile phone, using their debit or credit card. The cashless payment system ‘Parkmobile’ went live last week across the District.
Drivers will need to register to use the new phone parking system by contacting the service provider Parkmobile, by calling the local rate number 0203 003 2523 or visiting www.parkmobile.co.uk. Parkmobile also has free Apps for iPhones, Android phones and Blackberrys. When you contact Parkmobile for the first time you will need to provide them with your payment card and vehicle details.
Once registered drivers simply call 0203 003 2523 and confirm the 4 digit parking location which is displayed on signs in the car park and the parking session will automatically start, and call again to finish, bearing in mind some car parks have a maximum stay limit.
The Council’s Car Park Attendants will receive live details of the payments to hand-held terminals, enabling them to check on which vehicles have, or have not, paid for parking. People who have paid by phone will not need to display a ticket. It’s as simple as that.
Not only can this payment method be used in the District Council’s Pay & Display car parks but in all other car parks across the country where Parkmobile provides a similar service.
Phone parking customers, will pay a small convenience charge of 20p each time the service is used in addition to the standard tariff.
Traditional coin-operated Pay and Display machines will remain but this new scheme gives motorists the opportunity to pay for parking from the comfort of their vehicle.
South Bucks District Councillor, Bill Lidgate, Portfolio Holder for Environment said, “I’m very pleased that we offer this service to shoppers and visitors to South Bucks. It’s a great benefit to be able to park without having to hunt for loose change and to be safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to rush back to your car when your ticket is about to expire. You can still pay by cash in our car parks, but this new system gives extra convenience and choice.”
Full details of the scheme will be displayed on signs in the Pay & Display car parks or online at www.parkmobile.co.uk. Pocket sized cards with information about the service are available from the Council Offices at Capswood, Oxford Road, Denham.
