Paralympics Training Venue Hosts Talk And Walk

South Bucks walkers were out in force for a Paralympic themed ‘Talk and Walk’ last week at the Riding for the Disabled Centre in Fulmer.

The walkers, led by Simply Walks Co-ordinator Fiona Broadbent, were treated to an inspiring and informative talk from Stable Manager and coach, Clive Milkins, who highlighted the important work that the centre does with an array of disability groups. Walkers also had the opportunity to watch local school children with disabilities enjoy a riding lesson in the indoor arena. And keen eyed members of the group reported seeing, Gold Medal Paralympian Sophie Christiansen training at the centre.

South Bucks District Councillor Anita Cranmer, Portfolio Holder for Community, said, “The beauty of this event was that it brought together two successful South Bucks groups; the RDA centre in Fulmer with the South Bucks Simply Walks programme. This partnership has helped provide the opportunity for walkers in South Bucks to gain a real insight into the great work that goes on at this very busy riding centre and its amazing achievements, exemplified by the successes of Sophie Christiansen”.

After the tour and talk the group headed out onto Stoke Common to proceed in a circular walk back to the
car park.
