Two new sports courses for young adults aged 18-25 have been launched by South Bucks District Council’s Sports Development Team. The ‘Sportivate’ courses in tennis and running form part of a nationwide campaign designed to capture the excitement of the London 2012 Games by providing opportunities for young adults to receive coaching in a variety of sports and guide them into regular participation within their community.
Each course is 6 weeks long with the running course starting Thursday 25th August from 6-7pm at the Farnham Park Playing Fields, Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Royal. The tennis course starts on Monday 5th September from 6.30-7.30pm at Stoke Poges Tennis Club accessed from Rogers Lane. The cost of each course is only £2 per session. Rackets will be provided for the tennis class.
South Bucks District Councillor Anita Cranmer, Portfolio Holder for Community stated, ‘this is a fantastic opportunity for a section of our community to start taking part in a healthy sporting activity perhaps after leaving full time education and starting to lead independent lives; a time when regular sport can often take a back seat’.
Booking is required for the courses and spaces are limited, for further information and to book a space call Joe Sammon, Sports Development Officer, on 01895 837348 or email culturalandyouth@southbucks.gov.uk.
