Verdant Now Known As Biffa
Verdant, the waste management contractor that has handled South Bucks District Council’s recycling and refuse collections and street cleansing services for over three years, has changed its operating name. It has joined the municipal division of Biffa, one of the country’s biggest recycling, waste management and energy-from-waste businesses.
South Bucks District Council would like to assure residents that the change of name will not affect services and that residents will not see any changes. Re-branding of the existing vehicles is unlikely unless they need to be replaced.
South Bucks District Councillor Bill Lidgate, Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “It’s the same people doing the same good job, and we will continue to enjoy the relationship we have with the staff even though the name has changed. Biffa was our contactor for many years prior to Verdant anyway, so it is a company we are already used to working with.”
Brian Ashby, Biffa Municipal Regional Manager, added: “Verdant joined forces with Biffa late last year. We’re part of one of the country’s biggest names in recycling and refuse management, and will have many more resources to call on for South Bucks’ future needs.”
The Council recently decided to extend Biffa’s contract for a further seven years. The contract was first awarded in November 2007 and will now end in 2021.
Councillor Lidgate said “We’re under more pressure than ever to deliver efficient and high quality services to our residents, and have worked in partnership with Biffa to achieve future annual contract savings of around £150,000 per year. We are pleased that we can plan for future services with a long term and transparent contract in place.”
