Health And Wellbeing Event Was A Great Success
Residents came from across the District for the Health and Wellbeing Day held on Wednesday 29th February at the Memorial Centre in Gerrards Cross.
The event was organised by South Bucks District Council and part funded and supported by Bucks County Council, Chiltern District Council, Nexus and NHS Buckinghamshire.
During the morning there were Tai Chi demonstrations, diabetes and BMI checks as well as practical advice from organisations such as Help the Aged, Citizens Advice Bureau, Carers Bucks and the Chilterns and South Bucks Disability Group to mention but a few.
South Bucks District Council’s Community Portfolio Holder, Councillor Anita Cranmer says, “The first South Bucks Well Being Day was a huge success. It was an undoubtedly positive event with a good number of residents attending. I was at the event and was particularly pleased with the high level of interest and participation from both organisations and visitors. I believe community interests were well served by both information giving and the numerous free health checks which were on offer. I am confident the health and wellbeing of residents will be even better served in the future by all the terrific networking that happened between organizations and residents on the day. We certainly hope to repeat this type of event for our residents in the future.”
One visitor commented, “It was most useful to have the opportunity to access many different organisations under one roof.” And another said, “The blood pressure and diabetes checks and information for the deaf was very good.”
