Summer Fun In South Bucks

South Bucks District Council are providing a double whammy of fun this forthcoming summer holiday with, 20 days of free park-based sport and games, plus a four week programme of BMX and skateboarding activities.

'Chillin' in the Park' will tour the district's parks offering children aged 8 to 16 years the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of sports from tag rugby to lacrosse, for the less sporty children there will be a visiting artist who will be making jewellery and pipe cleaner 'mini beasts'.  

Running from 10am to 3pm the FREE activities will be visiting:

  • Denham's Alderbourne Playing Fields: 28th and 29th July
  • Iver Heath Recreation Ground: 31st July and 1st August 
  • Iver  Recreation Ground: 4th and 5th August
  • Stoke Poges Recreation Ground: 7th and 8th August
  • Stoke Green Cricket Club: 11th and 12th August   
  • Farnham Common Sports Club: 14th and 15th August
  • Trumpers field in Dorney: 18th and 19th August
  • Burnham Park: 21st and 22nd August
  • Gerrards Cross Common: 26th and 27th August
  • Holtspur Recreation Ground: 28th and 29th August.    

In addition to Chillin' in the Park the District Council offers 'Skate Weekz' a four week Mobile Skate Park that will tour the following venues:

  • Farnham Park Playing Fields: 28th July - 1st August
  • Burnham Grammar School: 4th - 8th August
  • Beacon Centre in Holtspur: 11th - 15th August
  • Burnham Grammar School: 18th - 22nd August

Skate Weekz is open to children aged 8 to 16 years. The activities run from 10am - 4pm at a price of £3.50 per day. Helmets and water are provided although skaters will need to bring their own decks.  
        
South Bucks District Councillor Shorne Tilbey, Portfolio Holder for Community recently enthused

about the Summer Programme: 'This is a great way to combat boredom and at the same time keep children healthy during the long summer break'.

All initiatives are supported by the Positive Action for Young People Initiative (PAYP). Under 8's are welcome at both events but will need to be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their stay.
