Here’s A Bright Idea – Leave A Light On Campaign
Commuters from South Bucks are being offered timer switches and energy saving light bulbs to help protect their homes from the traditional winter increase in burglaries.
Timer switches and energy saving light bulbs are being given out by the South Bucks District Council Community Safety Team and Neighbourhood Policing Teams at railway stations across the District. Look out for these events which are being advertised by the District Council, Thames Valley Police and Neighbourhood Watch Community Messaging.
Upcoming events are at:
- Gerrards Cross Railway Station 22nd October 1830-2000
- Taplow Railway Station-1730-1930
- Iver Railway station 23rd October 0700-0900
South Bucks District Councillor Shorne Tilbey, Portfolio Holder for Community said, “Thieves are much more likely to target a house in darkness and one which is clearly unoccupied. Commuters who leave in the dark and arrive home in the dark can take full advantage of this useful initiative.”
Lucy Groves, Crime Reduction Advisor for South Bucks says, “Timer switches are such a simple home security measure to use and can deter a potential thief from targeting a house. I would encourage commuters to use this device and consider altering the settings as daylight hours change. Don’t forget they can also be used on a radio especially when the radio is on a talk station. More home security advice can be found on the crime reduction section of
