Due to an unprecedented volume of work along with systems issues, which we are working hard to resolve, unfortunately our ability to deal with all pre-application enquiries has been delayed.
As a shared planning service we have a statutory responsibility to focus on determining planning applications in both Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils. Whilst the pre-application advice service is something which both authorities strongly recommend to all potential applicants it is not a statutory service. On this basis we hope you will understand that our key priority for the coming months must be the determination of planning applications.
Therefore, until the end of March 2018 we will give priority to enquiries that relate to strategic projects and/or which will deliver jobs and other forms of economic development.
We are working very hard to bring our service back to the very high standards we have set ourselves but in the meantime please accept our apologies for the delay whilst we resolve these issues.
If you are considering making a planning application, we can provide you with advice and information beforehand. This should help speed up the application process, identify specific issues relating to a particular site and reduce the likelihood of pursuing applications that are completely unacceptable, thus preventing unnecessary financial outlay.
If you would like our advice, please write to us, with a sketch plan and details of your proposals, either to email@example.com or to Development Management, South Bucks District Council, Capswood, Oxford Road, Denham UB9 4LH.
Significant resources are allocated to this service, and it has been decided that the cost of providing the service should be recovered directly from its users. As a result, there is a charge for this service which is based on the estimated amount of time it would take for Development Management officers to formulate their response.
When we receive your enquiry, it will be logged onto the system and a fee request letter will be sent out so you can decide whether or not you wish to proceed with the advice.
We will endeavour to respond within 10 working days of receiving payment, although longer may be required for more complex matters or if views have to be sought from other parties or consultees. Advice cannot be provided until the fee has been paid in full. If you pay online for such advice, please make sure to select 'Planning Advice with VAT' from the dropdown.
As from 1st April 2013 our fees for planning advice are as follows:
Charge per hour
Head of Service £220 + VAT
Area Team Managers (or equivalent service posts) £170 + VAT
All other Planning Officers (or equivalent service posts) £150 + VAT
Assistant Planning Officers (or equivalent service posts) £100 + VAT
Site Visit relating to informal advice (flat rate) £100 + VAT
To gain the maximum benefit from this service, please send us as much information about your site and the proposal as possible, preferably with some sketch drawings and rough measurements. The more information you are able to provide us with, the more specific our advice will be.
Advice is given informally, without prejudice to the formal decision making process of the Council.
Advice from the Environment Agency
