CrossRail

Crossrail is a proposed major new rail service that will link Maidenhead and Heathrow in the West with Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east through central London. Trains could operate by 2013 bringing major reductions in congestion and journey times for London and the South East.

Two rounds of consultation were conducted and the Crossrail Bill received its Second Reading in the House of Commons on 19 July 2005.  In doing so, the House has approved the principle of the project.

During the passage of the Bill through Parliament, there was opportunity for individuals, groups and organisations who are especially and directly affected by the Bill to "petition" against it. The petition period ended on 16 September 2005. The Council has submitted a petition raising the concerns arising from the proposals in the Crossrail Bill. A total of 358 petitions have been submitted. All the petitions submitted can be viewed by selecting this link.

The Bill is now considered by a Select Committee that will consider the submitted petitions against the Bill.
