World Heritage Sites

World Heritage Sites have outstanding universal cultural or natural value, and are proposed by member governments and inscribed on the list by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation).

There are twenty eight World Heritage Sites in the UK

Maidenhead Railway Bridge, a Grade II* listed building by Isambard Kingdom Brunel,  as part of The Great Western Railway: Paddington- Bristol  has been nominated in the past to qualify for inclusion in the list but no longer features on the current Tentative List.
