The Council works with local community and resident groups to enhance the local landscape.
The Council can help with the costs and provide advice over the enhancement of a site often working closely with local organisations who may take on maintenance of the site, such as watering new planting.
Within the Colne Valley Park a recently completed scheme at Thorney Mill Road, Iver, has transformed a former derelict site into a Community Garden. The site now includes seating and a path through a landscaped garden with viewing points over the river and ornamental railings and walls. The environment agency provided advice on suitable planting next to the river. The local Residents Association was involved in the design process and will maintain the site in the future.
Volunteer groups offer an important source of help to enhance sites of special wildlife importance. The Windsor and Maidenhead Conservation Volunteers is a valued contributor to the clearance of unwanted scrub on Stoke Common, helping to encourage the heather on the site.
